What a great place to stay! We stayed here for a wedding so only spent one night. But I would definitely recommend! Such good value for money and it was great to have a kitchen/fridge for cooking drinks while getting ready! The booking didn’t cost us a lot but the standard of the hotel and rooms was fantastic!
Really helpful and welcoming staff here. We were able to borrow a dvd player for the duration of the stay, which was a big help. Our room was quiet and fairly clean. The space didn't work completely as an apartment, though better than a normal hotel if you don't want to eat out. We didn't try the breakfast on offer, but it looked like a reasonable provision. The hotel is in walking distance of many York tourist sites (just outside the city walls) and we also made use of the Co-op below the hotel and supermarkets less than a mile away.

Every member of staff I came across was lovely. The hotel offers room service which was great and very speedy. The room was nice and looked very modern, but certain things were problematic. There was no shower curtain so the water went all over the floor. The mini fridge had a flickering light which shone under the cupboard door, therefore I had to put items in front of it so it wouldn't flash all night. It also wasn't keeping anything chilled, so the refrigerated items I had bought to snack on during my stay were a little iffy. I was unable to set the safe by following the instructions provided, don't know if that was just me. Also the swimming pool, while delightfully large, could do with a clean, as there is grime on the tiles. Only two changing lockers for a 4 floor hotel, which was not an issue for me personally but I imagine when the hotel is full, it would be very busy in there. Nice hotel, but nothing special and, given all of the above, not really worth almost £100 per night.
Overall good for a two night stay. Easy walk for central York and the sightseeing bus tour. Room reception and breakfast room clean and nicely decorated. Pool area quite dirty, I think because several guests ignored a small sign stating they should remove out door shoes. Also be aware there is a limit to how many can be in the pool at once so you may need to join a waiting list at reception. Breakfast good but expect to join a waiting list in reception at the busier times.

I expected just a little more from this hotel. Myself and husband booked a executive suite for our wedding anniversary . The standard of the room was good but i could not believe you had to request slippers ! when they did arrive they were just left on the bed in their wrapping. The tissue box had two tissues in it (standards ) The breakfast was good the service was not the lady on the desk took us through and we were pointed out the cold food and hot food !!! A little bit better service here would have been nice. We are used to top class service nothing over the top just attention to detail ! and a smile would not go a miss. The best welcome and smile we received was from a lovely housekeeping lady. I also do feel the Hotel really should revamp their door request messages here is the one i feel really does show their idea of not going that extra mile for their customers it says: Sorry but would you mind cleaning my room ? Thanks very much. Appreciate it ( Sorry) Please tidy my room! I mean who did really come up with this ??? We have travelled the world and stayed at some fantastic hotels never before have we come across a message like this , its almost liking begging them to do their job.... get rid of it.
Was looking to stay at either The Grand Hotel or The York Principal...we chose the Principal and so glad that we did!! Beautiful open lobby, very kind and courteous staff, management was awesome & breakfast was nice. We had a suite on floor 1 with a view of York Minster, I strongly recommend it.

Great food good beers and friendly staff make thid an ideal choice. The pub is one of the oldest in York sporting some wonderful interiors and is a large easily accessible collection of linked buildings. Nice outdoor area and garden. The menu choice is wide are good selection of ales and bitters as well as the usual wines and spirits. Highly recommended for a drink and food. Only criticism would be TVs in some areas unessential. Great place!
Classy pub in York, close to the shambles in the old part of the city. Historical building, very cozy atmosphere. They had a couple of gas fireplaces on when we arrived. Great service, slightly expensive, small portions but quality food and drink available. You can't go wrong bring family, friends or a date here for a treat. Beautifully decorated for period, they have a patio out front and a smoking lounge out the side.

Food here was delicious! I had their "Tongue in Cheek" which was tasty but enjoyed the cheese board selection more. What made our evening more enjoyable was the staff. Every one was so friendly and made us laugh throughout the evening and that is what gave this place 5 stars.
Sublime food. The steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The sauces were great. Will definitely return. Have to say though the Pig skin was interesting, very mixed reviews from our whole group on this. Thank you for a great night.

All 3 times I've been there has been some sort of live music which is great for a small pub. Has a really cost feel to it and the staff are all good. The beer selection is really good they have lots of wacky choices on tap.
This used to be our 'go to' after a day out in York. However I think the York Tap is better. This is still a good place although it does get very busy. There's around 6 real ales to try. We managed to get a seat on Saturday around 18:00 although it was very busy even then. I can still recommend this place.

Lovely family accommodation. Fantastic facilities, everything you need!
Really nice spot for a short break. Fully stocked self catering kitchen, comfortable beds and clean rooms, all with ensuite. Close drive to York town centre, although on a very busy road during peak hour traffic.

York Holiday Homes is THE place for top notch York accommodations! I have stayed in at least 7 of their properties over 17 years and all were wonderful. I have my favorites, for two people it’s Lavender Cottage, for more it’s #1 Turks Head Ct, but all were ones I’d happily stay in again. Besides great properties and terrific locations, there is also the top notch office staff who are friendly, competent, and accessible and who will make booking, arrival, and departure a piece of cake! The likewise friendly and terrific housekeeping staff presents you with a sparkling “home from home” that includes fresh flowers and a tea tray complete with biscuits. Fresh milk in the fridge needs only pouring into the milk pitcher. Aahhh, now I’m homesick. York Holiday Homes is truly a gem in the very special city of York. I love walking to the Minster, the Treasurers House gardens, the shops, and the other special sights; the YHH properties make them all easily reached by foot. It’s like living in a well-appointed village where you step out the door of your charming home and wander to your heart’s content. I live in the US and have traveled widely and enjoyed many places; York Holiday Homes and the city of York are at the top of my “favorites” list.
Mulberry Cottage is an ideal holiday home, close to the centre of York yet so peaceful and quiet. It has everything you require for a stress free break, even a little sheltered garden to chill out after a busy day touring the many attractions available in the city.

Visited 7, Buckingham Street for the third time. Still in an ideal location. The recent floods did not reach the property (and never have) and therefor it remains in pristine condition. York is a fabulous place and there is very little sign of any flood damage in the city - well done York!!

Lovely comfy bed, large walk in shower, tick sheet for breakfast (excellent idea - ok with cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast) The check in was most odd tho. There was an envelope with my name on, on the wall. Inside were instructions how to use the keypad and information as to where my bedroom door key could be found. As I'd no info re breakfast time, I'd to ring the tel number. That was the only time I spoke to anyone until breakfast. Everything was fine, but it was a very strange system. Perhaps it's the way things are now 😀😀
Great location to city centre. Very clean room. Great amenities. Fabulous breakfast. Very welcoming hosts.

Pros. Nicely decorated.Hosts very helpful carried bags up to room..Food nice. Good selection of breakfast food. Rooms all very clean. Plenty of tea, coffee etc, fan supplied. Cons, twin rooms up 36 stairs and two landings.no lift. Twin room small,no wardrobe just a pole on wall. Very noisy road, no double glazing so sirens all night. They do supply ear plugs. No parking outside. Also no bar.Not sure about all the other glowing reviews they must be in different rooms. This was just my honest experience of a twin room.
Very beautiful hotel. Well decorated rooms, great quality. Would have gotten 5 stars if they also offered a healthy breakfast option.

Nice place easy to get to. Nice people. Great breakfast options. 👍
A very nice b&b which is clean and up to date. A ten minute walk from York city centre.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Our first visit to this CCC site. It was so appealing, friendly staff, lovely well kept site, beautiful facilities, in the heart of York. A must for any stay. Fabulous.. We'll definitely be back. Thank-you for a very enjoyable stay.
Lovely clean campsite, little green on site, but tidy. In spite of building works next door, little problems. Near city centre.

Nice, small caravan park close to river in edge of York (lovely 3 Mike walk in to York from campsite - just follow the river). Very friendly staff. A little cramped, a little untidy and some noise from other (seasonal) campers but didn't spoil it overall for our brief stay. The neighbouring village is very nice and has a number of pubs for eating and drinking.
Did an airbnb here. Was really nice be sure to bring an extra layer of clothing!
