Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Heslington

Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill Restaurant

Foss Bridge House, Walmgate, York YO1 9TJ, UK – 01904 650910

The food was good but the portion sizes were variable. We had the mussels (good portion size), salmon (again good portion size), hake (reasonable portion size) and smoked haddock (small portion size). We weren't rushed through our dinner, in fact they could have been a little quicker with the courses. Overall a good experience one which I will be willing to undergo again.

Excellent service, the waiting staff had a great deal of knowledge on the menu. The food is delicious with a wide section to choose from., also new foods I have never come across... Like heritage potatos which are potatoes of different colours.. But taste the same... I would definitely recommend this restaurant and is ideal for dates, groups of friends. I wish I could give this more than 5 stars as this restaurant is worth more. Very happy

Melton's Restaurant

7 Scarcroft Rd, York YO23 1ND, UK – 01904 634341

5/5 still isn't high enough. Incredible food and service for a very reasonable price. Easily the best meal I've ever had. You know a main course is good when you're genuinely sad it's over. Extensive wine list is superbly priced also. If I had to recommend one place in England to visit it would be here.

Love this place. Occasionally a dish could use one more flavour element (imo) but the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chef are evident in every bite of every dish. The staff are friendly and have great expertise re wine pairings, etc. Cosy and intimate vibe.

Coppergate Shopping Centre, York YO1 9NY, UK – 01904 625582

Friendly caring service .I only had a glass of wine but it was a haven of peace and the waitress was very welcoming

Decided to visit Carluccio's on our annual two night break in York, as it was a new addition to the city. I ordered the roasted butternut squash with roasted vegetables, my husband had the vegetarian pizza. Although both enjoyable, they weren't anything special considering this restaurant is owned by a very high profile Italian chef,so was expecting to be "wowed "but wasn't. The wine was however brought to the table just at the correct temperature, which is always a plus. Service was prompt and efficient, no problem there. Would probably visit again, if the menu took our interest.
