City of York Council

West Offices, Station Rise, York YO1 6GA, UK – 01904 551550

It's the council, can't expect miracles or anything to be done quick. Chase it up daily though and it'll get done sooner. The ticket queuing system works and free WiFi whilst you wait.

Some of the management are truly shifty when asked questions. Most of the front-line staff are friendly enough and competent, though sometimes things need to be explained as if speaking to a 6-year-old. Records of conversations are not kept on file, which means there is no compromising paper trail. In short: a typical socialist council, where accountability is not a word in their dictionary.

Guildhall

St. Helen’s Square, York YO1 9QN, UK – 01904 613161

Went here for the York Christmas Market and there were good vendors with plenty of good product. A hidden gem in town.

My favourite location in all of York. The coat of arms amongst the flagstones is particularly impressive. A tour of the chambers with it's secret passageways is a must. Watch out for the rats as you head down the ramp into the Ouse River.

A beautiful building

This link works well. If you have fly tipping, litter issues etc you can either click and enter your local authority or find it on an interactive map. The services just drop down for you.
Find the local council, MP and MEP for YO10. Type your postcode into relevant box and find details for your local councillor, MP and MEP. MPs can be extremely useful if you want a local issue aired or fixed. Get an appointment for a surgery meeting if you want to talk directly to your MP.

Councils have also become increasingly useful, business focused and lean. If you want something done think about contacting your local council or contacting your local representative. Click below to get the contact details of your representatives for the Heslington area
